The Gift
riverchurch supports ministry outreach to local low income families and individuals in the Tonbridge area through The Gift. We are pleased to say that The Gift is already active in the community.
It was a really busy time for The Gift leading up to Easter, as we delivered 100 Easter Eggs, celebrating the REAL message of Easter, around Tonbridge, made by the Meaningful Chocolate Company.
Nominations for eggs came from our community contacts such as the Youth Offending Team, Russet Homes (largest housing association in Tonbridge), Richmond Fellowship (mental health charity), Porchlight (homeless hostel), Little Foxes Children’s Centre, and others. The recipients did not know that they had been nominated for the eggs, and the reactions on the doorstep varied hugely when they opened their front door.
Many people were touched and blessed by the eggs, with one woman nearly moved to tears, and several older people saying that they had not received a gift of any kind for years. It was a fantastic opportunity to invite the Kingdom into people’s lives by asking if we could pray for several individuals with ill health as well, and though we don’t know the outcomes of this, we believe that we partnered with the Holy Spirit to move in their lives.
Everyone got blessed – those receiving the eggs, those helping to deliver the eggs, and as the eggs were fair trade, the cocoa growers benefitted too. Many thanks to those church family who gave up their time to help.
